Concert Rentals

Our concert services include delivery of a first-class Steinway grand piano in top condition the day before a performance, artist’s bench, piano cover, and on-site tunings before and after soundchecks and rehearsals.

We’ve provided pianos for Emanuel Ax, Dave Brubeck, Andre Watts, and many others. Our Steinway C 7’5” grand piano is used for classical, jazz, and pop concerts. It’s played in nearly all piano performances at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, MA.

The cost for the Steinway C 7’5″ is $500 per day.
The cost for concert tunings is $375.
The cost of transportation, locally and without stairs, starts at $900*.

Example: The average total cost for a performance at a concert hall like the Mahaiwe or Colonial Theater in the Southern Berkshires is $1,775 for one performance. ($500 + $900 + $375)

Some venues such as the Yellow Barn in Putney, VT send their own mover and provide their own concert tuners. The rental cost for the Steinway C in such cases is $500.

Home Rentals

Many of our upright and grand pianos can be rented for use at home.

We offer delivery, tuning, maintenance, and consultation. Perhaps you need an instrument while spending a summer in the Berkshires. Perhaps you’re thinking about purchasing a piano but would first like to hear and play it in the space before making a final decision.

All pianos include climate control systems that help with fluctuating temperature and humidity, keeping the action and pitch stable.

If you’re interested in purchasing a piano, the entire amount you’ve spent during the first year of rental goes toward purchase of any of our pianos. For example, if you rent an upright, but decide to buy a grand, the amount you’ve paid to rent the upright will be deducted from the price of the grand.

Contact us to discuss the exact cost. We charge 3% of the piano’s purchase price monthly, plus round trip-moving and tuning fees. We ask for payments in 3-month increments. The first payment includes round-trip moving and a tuning.

The cost of round-trip moving for a small upright, locally and without stairs, starts at $700 while grands start at $900. The actual total depends on our mover’s rates and the logistics of moving the piano into your space, such as distance or how many stairs there are. We can provide you with an estimate if you give us your address and details on where the piano will be placed.

Example: The cost of a local three-month rental of an upright might be $1500. This is the cost of the piano for three months, the round-trip delivery, and a tuning. If you then buy a piano, you can choose to keep the upright or choose a different piano from our inventory. Either way, we’ll deduct $1500 from the purchase price.
